During my PhD work I have applied Artificial Intelligence techniques (model-based reasoning, case-based reasoning, and ontologies) to the conceptual redesign of processes. Particularly, I have tackled Chemical Engineering processes (chemical plants). The aim of my PhD work ("Redesign Support Framework for Complex Technical Processes") was to obtain a redesign support framework for support human designers to understand complex technical processes and consequently facilitate its redesign. The core of this framework is an hybrid modelling approach to model hierarchically processes.
