Dr. Miguel Morales-Sandoval is a mexican Computer Science researcher. In 2002, he received the B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Puebla, Faculty of Computer Science. His M.Sc. and PhD degrees in Computer Science were obtained in 2004 and 2008 respectively from the National Institute for Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE), in the Computer Science Department. From august 2008 to august 2012 he was with the Polytechnic University of Victoria in Tamaulipas, Mexico as a professor-researcher in the Information Technology Department. During september 2012 to august 2014 he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (Cinvestav) campus Tamaulipas (formely named Information Technology Lab - LTI). Later, he continued in Cinvestav Tamaulipas from september 2014 to october 2016 as a visiting professor. Since November 2016, he is a full time professor-researcher (Cinvestav-3B level) in Cinvestav Tamaulipas.

From January 2018 to September 2020, he was the Academic Coordinator in Cinvestav Tamaulipas and the head of the Graduate Programs (Master and PhD) in Engineering and Computational Technologies.

Representative projects

Dr. Morales-Sandoval was the leader of the research project "Development of novel algorithms and their hardware/software architectures for lighweight cryptography", supported by the funding program SEP-CONACyT Ciencia Básica, Fondo de Investigación para la Educación, from 2018 to 2021.

In 2018, 2019, and 2020, Dr. Morales-Sandoval led the project " Encuentro Estatal de Jóvenes Talento en Tecnologías de Información, TopTamaulipas, TamCoder, y TamMath". For the 2018 and 2020 editions, the project obtained financial support by CONACYT through the funding program Fomento a las vocaciones científicas. The 2020 edition was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2020, Dr. Morales-Sandoval joined the project "Plataforma tecnológica para la gestión, aseguramiento, intercambio y preservación de grandes volúmenes de datos en salud y construcción de un repositorio nacional de servicios de análisis de datos de salud", led by Dr. Jose Luis Gonzalez Compean. The contribution of Dr. Morales in this project is in the development of cryptographic algorithms for securing medical data.
